She's twirling

My Mia Gianna update has been postponed.  We had a glorious day, weather-wise, and so we were outside all day. Activities involved:  taking a walk, "hunting" dandelions and, most importantly, twirling in the yard.

This weather has been such a welcome relief. I really needed the sunshine. My mood has been sour lately.  I think the grey skies and rain were starting to contribute to a more negative mind space.  And the children are just so happy with the sunshine!  Bode is particularly vocal about the sun these days.  The other morning at breakfast, he sang, "Oh Mr. Sun, please come out so that I can see you." His melancholy call seemed to only echo my own internal plea.

So the RX has been lots of outside time, taking walks with Nico and P, watching Nico stomp through the remaining puddles for as long as he wants, and watching the other two monkeys run around our yard like, well, monkeys.

For those of you still in the freezing temps, I hope that these pictures warm you. ;)

Friday: at home

We have been spending so much time outside, now that the sun has returned.  I love sitting down to dinner and seeing my children wearing rosy cheeks and bringing big appetites to the table! It is the best feeling.

I promise, despite the look below, that Nico has not been confined to the stroller while we are outside. After a stroll around the driveway, he sits on a blanket while Bode and Gianna play around him.

Bode knows how to swing on his own now. Hooray!  Not to be outdone by her big brother, Gianna can swing by herself, too! Hooray, hooray!

This morning, it is raining.  While I paid bills and ordered some things online, Bode did "some writing" (as he likes to say). He can write a B, D, S and an A. It is amazing to see these new skills develop, seemingly overnight and with very little "teaching" from me.  (His school is play-based only.) Meanwhile,  Gianna played with some left-over Easter stickers and plastic eggs she found under my desk.

Today, we are stranded at home because we have no car! Hopefully the rain will let up a little so that I can take everyone out.  If all else fails, we can always make cookies!
Give a genuine smile to everyone you see, and give your loved ones a big hug today.
Happy Friday, everyone!

Sunny weekend

We had such an incredible weekend. It was incredible simply because the sun was out!  I absolutely loved it.  I think my mood improved by 1000%.  I smiled. I was happy.  I felt relaxed. I played outside with all of my babies. It was so much fun for all of us.

Saturday morning, RWF brought up the Exersaucer from the basement. I washed it and stuck it outside to dry. Nico thinks he's "sooooo big!"

Bode Wm. is "soooo big" as well. I can not get over how big he is getting, and turning into such a "boy."

A picture of me, smiling about being outside in the glorious sunshine. I have no jacket on as it was so warm. I still bundled Nico up in his down suit though.   That proved to be a mistake as he got too hot.  Luckily we have plenty of outdoor gear to wear.

RWF and Bode negotiating on what scooter to ride.  Bode won and got the big one.  They raced around. I am so surprised how good Bode is on the scooter.  He took a hiatus over the winter and just hopped on and rode it like nobody's biz.

This child of mine.  She splashed in all the puddles and then took her pants off because they were "aw wet."  We let her run around bare legged. She loved it.

I hope that you got some sun this weekend. It made a world of difference in our little corner.

Today, it has rained all day. Really.  Non-stop rain. I actually love the rain, so it hasn't bothered me.  After we picked up Bode from school, we got donuts. I declared an impromptu donut party.  Bode and Gianna thought it was a great idea.  I asked what all we needed for a donut party (even though I 'called' it) and Bode said, "Balloons!" So I blew up two red balloons. I also put two birthday candles and stuck them in each donut. A bright spot to our day. Party complete. Babies happy.

Happy Tuesday.
